The French Art Escape with Dayle Doroshow, Annie Hooten and Jane Bumar.
In this spirited workshop we’ll explore polymer clay jewelry, sketch strolling and mixed media art with instructed studio time and plenty of Open Studio for extra demos and working on your art. The region is rich with medieval villages, artists, flea markets and museums, which we will draw on for inspiration and ephemera gathering. Cathar castles, one of the 10 Most Beautiful Markets in France, a day of Bleu Pastel dyeing, fields of sunflowers- all await your exploration. We’ll travel to the Prehistoric caves of Pech Merle and the ancient artist villages of St. Cirq La Popie and Carcassonne.
Experience the rich landscape of the Languedoc region of France and the unique cultural resources of its artists, past and present.

Join Colleen for a magical week making a Multi-layered Travel Art Journal capturing the essence of your trip through vintage papers, textiles, vibrant colors, nature and anything else we find on our treasure hunts at the flea markets. Cyanotypes (sun printing), encaustics, slow stitching, photo transfers and journaling will be explored throughout the week. The region is rich with medieval villages, artists, flea markets and museums, which we will draw on for inspiration and ephemera gathering. Cathar castles, one of the 10 Most Beautiful Markets in France, fields of sunflowers- all await your exploration. Enchanting France – Embellishing Fabric
Join textile artists and Fit for Art owners Rae Cumbie and Carrie Emerson for a creative retreat at La Cascade from August 5 to 12, 2025. Together we will explore the local countryside and a variety of fabric embellishing and surface design techniques.
Our days will be split between artistic pursuits in the cozy third floor artist studio of our 17th century home and traveling around the region to experience life in southern France.
Explorations of neighboring Revel and the surrounding countryside will include historic sites and regional markets, tree lined thoroughfares, flower fields, peaceful vistas, and small villages. Rae’s bilingual daughter, Anna, who lives and works in Toulouse as an English teacher, will join us from time to time to enrich our French adventure.
Textile-related activities will include touring a museum with contemporary tapestries, visits with local artisans and collectors, a day pastel dyeing with an expert in the field, and time to shop at a fabric store.
In the studio, we will paint, stitch, collage and piece a variety of small fabric samples to spark our creative juices and create memories of our time at La Cascade. Stitchers of all skill levels and interests are welcome. We'll find visual inspiration for our creative work in the ironwork details, copper works, blue pastel fabrics and notions, bountiful outdoor markets and fields, museum exhibits, and shops.

You are welcome to Nese’s world to learn how to be happy. We really don’t need much to be happy, just switch on the light and see the Love in us.
I invite you to learn how easy it is to use the tools you will learn in this week. My treasure box is big and everybody will get her/his key to open up happiness and be in JOY. You absolutely don't need anything. All levels are welcome no previous experience of yoga, cooking, painting, dancing, singing, or what ever we will do are required. It will always be through FUN and laughter. And transformation happens while we play.

Sharon will also be sharing her unique finds from her French studio to inspire your projects. This is a creative adventure you won’t want to miss!
One very unique bonus of this retreat is that you will be provided with all of the tools and materials that you need to create your artwork. No need to worry about packing any tools or a supply list for your projects, unless of course you want to! You are also welcome to incorporate any of your found treasures that you may find on this adventure.
